Rudolf Brandt, personal assistant to Himmler
Rudolf (no relation to Karl) was not a physician. He served as Personal Administrative Officer to Heinrich Himmler. As such, he was responsible for the administration of several different medical experiments.
Some of the experiments he oversaw involved subjecting prisoners to high altitude and freezing. He also was responsible for the extermination of people with tuberculosis.
Brandt was very small of stature. He did not like the prison food and seemed to waste away. Therefore, he was given a special diet of food he liked. This kept him alive long enough to receive his death sentence. He was hung in Landsberg.
